About Edmonton List

Edmonton List is your trusted local guide for home services, real estate, and everything that makes life in Edmonton work better. We create detailed, honest, Edmonton-specific guides that help local homeowners make informed decisions — whether they’re hiring a plumber, replacing a furnace, buying their first home, or dealing with a pest problem in the middle of January.

Why We Built Edmonton List

Edmonton is a unique city. Our winters are among the coldest of any major city in the world. Our housing market operates differently than Vancouver or Toronto. Our local trades and service market has its own characteristics, pricing norms, and licensing requirements. And yet most online resources about home services are written generically for a national audience and miss the local context that actually matters.

We built Edmonton List because Edmonton homeowners deserve better than generic advice. When you’re spending $15,000 on a furnace replacement or trying to understand whether to hire a pest control company for a mice problem, you need information that’s specific to Edmonton — the right cost ranges, the right seasonal timing, the right regulatory context, and the right questions to ask contractors in this market.

What We Cover

Our guides cover the full spectrum of Edmonton home ownership and local life:

  • Home Services — Plumbing, HVAC, electrical, roofing, renovation, cleaning, pest control, painting, and more — with Edmonton-specific pricing, seasonal timing, and contractor selection advice
  • Real Estate — Buying and selling guides, neighbourhood profiles, and Edmonton market insights
  • Edmonton Life — Cost of living, neighbourhood guides, farmers markets, local food, and seasonal living tips

Our Editorial Standards

Every article on Edmonton List is:

  • Edmonton-specific — We research and write for Edmonton’s climate, market, and regulations, not a generic Canadian or North American audience
  • Regularly updated — Pricing, regulations, and market conditions change. We review and update our guides regularly
  • Independently produced — We are not paid by service providers to include them in our guides. Our recommendations and information are editorially independent
  • Practically useful — Our goal is that every reader leaves with information they can actually use to make a better decision or take the right action
